Long-distance move from Williston, VT to Red Hook, NY

Do Not Use Elite Moving & Storage, or Mosley Van Lines !!

I set up a move from Vermont to NY, and did all the packing - needing a company to just move boxes and furniture to a NY storage unit. Three calls to itemize the home occurred - all sounded ok until the day they were supposed to arrive. I got a late call telling me they couldn't come due to weather. The next day, they showed up, short-staffed, only 2 men (supposed to be 4) to move an entire house, and one had been flown in from California the day before (strange story and something didn't add up immediately). They showed up in a rented Budget truck which was too small - my first realization that Elite was a broker, with Mosley Van Lines the mover. One man was fired mid-day for talking to us because we asked if he would drive a second truck if we rented one so that we could move everything that day. We knew and the foreman knew our whole house could not fit in one truck. The foreman called the main office, complained about the worker negotiating with us, and fired him. But, he needed to finish the day to get his pay. As you can imagine, he cared little about our furnishings thereafter. An upright cabinet fell sideways and cracked in half. A piano was moved with the wood front down. Furniture was hap-hazardly stacked. We had an extension ladder that we told them needed to go in early, as it just barely would fit in the truck. It didn't go in early - and we were told we couldn't take it as it wouldn't fit in later in the day. The storage unit closed at 9pm in New York - but still moving furniture into the 2nd truck at 7pm (agreed to by the company if we paid for the truck rental, the gas, paid the driver, tips, and an extra stipend to the company - another $2000+ added on at the last minute). We had no choice as we had a 4-5 hour drive ahead of us, and had to move this day due to a pending house closing. After calling the NY storage unit owner to let us in at midnight, they started to unload. The foreman decided to take a nap while the 2 workers started to unload - roughly moving the furniture and throwing boxes without regard to the "fragile" signs on them. The next day, the manager called Mosley Van Lines to complain about the damage to the storage facility walls, floor gouges, and storage unit damages (you wouldn't believe the pictures). They also left mounds of garbage in the parking lot. Mosley Van Lines took no responsibility for the damage or clean-up, and no reimbursement to storage facility for repairs. Elite took no accountability for Mosley, brokered to do the move. Since then, it has only gotten worse - Mosley Van Lines has stopped paying on the storage unit, even though they have my credit card. My unit is going to be put up for auction if I don't pay for the storage, back payments, and late fees that I was unaware were being incurred until the storage facility called to advise me of the pending auction. Both companies refuse to return my calls - and Mosley Van Lines won't answer the phone now, and the mailbox is full. They hung up on the Storage Facility trying to get payment for my units. Mosley refused to put the storage unit in my name when the Storage Facility asked them to do so. A breach in contract exists, in addition to the lack of payment, as they were supposed to move the contents of the storage facility into my new home as part of the contract. This doesn't include the anticipated significant damage to my possessions when we do unload the storage unit. I can't even contact Elite Moving & Storage, nor Mosley Van Lines now as they don't return messages. Both companies are unscrupulous, corrupt, and do not have any level of ethical behaviors as a business entity. It is now in the hands of my lawyer. DO NOT USE ELITE MOVING & STORAGE (they are a broker and do not stand behind their sub-contractors)! DO NOT USE MOSLEY VAN LINES - unprofessional, fly by night, highly suspicious workers who do not care about your things! Beware and avoid the stress, added on expenses, and lack of quality moving practices!

Long-distance move from Arizona to Texas

Bad business!

Well I thought I interviewed this company thoroughly. I have a father and three brothers, all retired military and I have had professional movers for almost all my moves. Elite moving & storage out of Las Vegas was by far THE worst move I have had. I did a telephone inventory of my household goods with Jennifer, was feeling no stress about the company/price and all. When the packers arrived I was quoted DOUBLE the original price!  When we finally received our stuff it was a sad moment. If something was not bent or broken it was just missing. They had packed heavier boxes on top of smaller boxes. Oh, after we were packed and movers we gone I found 1 of my lamp shades in a black trash bag! We brought that with but it didn't matter b/c the matching lamp shade never made it to new house. The glass in serveral pictures was broken, vases were broke, some of my everyday dishes were broke. They had put tape on things they shouldn't have as the tape pulled the paint off when I removed it. All my treasured items from around the world look like they barely survived an earthquake! Several nonreplaceable antique just wrecked! The van driver that brought our stuff, Lloyd, was nice and I could tell he was extremely uncomfortable with the condition of our stuff.

Long-distance move from Las Vegas, NV to Waynesville, OH

Elite Movers. Las Vegas.

This was the best experience I've ever had with a moving company!! Excellent in every way. Very professional and courteous about everything I wanted done. Took the time to alleviate my fears about getting everything packed and secured on the truck. Brought adequate crew and supplies to complete the job. Explained every aspect of the job and took the time to keep reassuring me that everything would work out just the way I wanted and needed. Outstanding job!

Long-distance move from California to Florida

Broken Guitars and Wet Boxes and Mattress.

This company is awful.  The people  were rude.  Delivery time was a joke.  Most of all, MY GUITAR WAS DENTED BIG TIME IN TWO DIFFERENT SPOTS!!  It is totally broken. Not little dings.  We are talking big dents to where the wood is completely cracked and pushed in.  Also, many of my boxes arrived waterlogged.  My guitar box was waterlogged and the guitar itself on the bridge showed water damage. My mattress was wet on one corner and all the other boxes were wet as well.  I feel raped after giving these people my money.  Also, I had to pick up my stuff from down the street because the truck couldn't fit through the drive way.  I had to myself load the stuff into my truck and drive it to my house and move it all in all by myself.  Thanks for nothing "Elite."  LMAO.  This compant won't last long.  I contacted the owner and told him about everything and he didn't even say sorry or sound like he cared one bit.  Fortunately for him he doesn't have to deal with claims.  He just gave me a phone number to call to file the claim.  That phone number gave me a website for where I have to file the claim.  Elite is terrible.  This is my first review of many more to come on various websites.

Long-distance move from Nevada to Ohio

Watch out for this moving company.

This company started out alright, but went down hill once they obtained my items. They held onto my items for 9 days before leaving Nevada. I waited 16 days to receive my stuff. This is not what was told to me by Suzie. The driver who was very hard to ynderstand because of the language barrier. He called me 24 hours in advance of delivery, like I was told. I then adjusted my plans to leave my sister in laws wedding early. Once I left I got a call that the driver would not be there until the next morning. They had no compassion for my time. It was all about them. Sunday morning, I got the call while at church to met him. Along with my Pastor and few other members that came to help me get my stuuff. The driver was very rude. He was more worried about the money than getting my stuff off the truck timely. We had to help unload the truck. I called the company to express my dissatisfaction. They just don't care. It took 30 minutes to get an apololgy. If that's what you call it.

Long-distance move from Nevada to Indiana

Stay Away.

The seller was very adamant is showing me how great they were and how no complains have been posted to the BBB. She failed to mention they have NUMEROUS complains with the US Department of Transportation.

The pick-up was uneventful, eventhough I should have been a little suspicious when they showed up in a truck with a paper wign taped to the side!!

The foreman told me to contact them 2 weeks prior to my delivery date to make sure everything was in order and that that way I was going to have my household in Indianawhen I needed it.

I signed papers (you know, sign here and here, when you are exhausted and not paying attention) and what they are making you sign is a disclaimer that they are not responsible for anything!!

The date you give them for delivery is actually a time-reference as they can take up to 30 BUSINESS days to deliver your goods (but NO-ONE tells you that when they are sweetening you up to pay more than for the other movers because they are soo "professional" (Ha!)

They do not respond by phone or email and we are on day 14 after "my scheduled delivery date", I'm renting an empty house, had to buy a news bed and a table as not to eat and sleep on the floor and these people do not have a clue as to when they will deliver my goods.

STAY AWAY FROM THEM PLEASE!!

Long-distance move from Arizona to Michigan

This company doesn't derserve to be in business negative star !!

I planned a move from Phoenix AZ to Michigan, I called months in advance, spoke primarily with the sales rep Tawny, until the day of the move.  After speaking eith Tawny between 3-4 times, two of which we reviewed my items, to determine the cubic footage I would need to mive, the thurd phone call we finalized the move.  We reviewed the fine print.  I was advaised to wrap all of my furniture that had cloth and bubble wrap my mirror.  I a, 5'2" petite and I did all of this, pulled muscles, soent days preparing for this.  The weekend of the move my moving time frame was between 5-7 pm Sunday.  No one called to tell me they were on there way or late.  I had to call and after an hour of my calling at 7 pm was advised the movers were running late.  They arrive 45 min late, gave me this bogus estimate if what 280 cu feet came out to on the truck and insulting my intelligence when I asked them to measure it out.  I am a physician and now my math, the measly space they showed me did not come to 280 cu Ft.   The forman then came to my apartment, told me it would take doulble the space I was quoted "worst case senario", that I would pay 20 buck for 4 rolls of tape, 150 bucks for extra footage they would have to travel (my apt was less than 100ft from the truck, they were charging me that much for max 50extra feet), and the icing on the cake.. 20 bucks for a box for my mirror.  He then told me he would call his manager and get back to me with the final plan and that she woukd call.  An hour and half later I got a call from a lady who bascially accused me of nit providing an inventory list, possibly speaking to the wrong represenative when finalizing my move, and she threatened me that the converstaions were recorded.  This is the summarized version, but I spoke with the same person everytime except for that evening, I advised the woman that she should go back and review the taped converstaions, that I am canceling my move, and to expect this reveiw on EVERY WEBSITE  I could find to post. It one.  IF YOU ARE A SINGLE FEMALE OR CRUNCHED FOR TIME,PLEASE READ THIS.  DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL SCAM YOU AND TRY AND FORCE YOU TO PAY EXTAR BECAUSE YOU DONT HAVE TIME TO MAKE OTHER PLANS. GOOGLE MOVERS BEFOREHAND TO READ OUR EXPERIENCES!!  BBB REVIEW WAS MOST LIKELY PAID FOR AND THE SAD THING IS THEY START THE CONVERSATION WITH "WE HAVE GREAT REVIEWS".  Disappointed, very very disapointed.  The foreman never came back up to tell me what was going on.  I unfortunately had to get rid of my furniture, ie donate it.

Not So Elite Moving and Storage.

My experience with Elite Moving and Storage started out wonderfully. The representative that I dealt with was very persistent, which is partly why I had decided to go with this company. Jennifer was very friendly on the phone, and seemed very knowledgeable when I was speaking with her. It wasn't until after I paid my $100 deposit, and my move date was getting close, that the experience began to change. I no longer was able to deal with the initial customer service representative that had handled my quote, and the customer service representatives that helped me over the phone showed an entirely different side to the company. The first time I called with questions, the representative that assisted me was extremely rude and completely unhelpful. I simply had questions about my pickup date and the cost of the move, which albeit had been included in my welcome email; I just had some clarifying questions to ask, which have still remained unanswered to this day. I was completely blown away by how unhelpful they were after I had already paid my deposit - I was tempted to cancel with Elite and go with another company, but unfortunately by this point it was much too late for me to get another moving company. Just before the move I was awaiting a confirmation call to confirm the date for pickup. Initially I was told that the confirmation call would come 3 business days prior to pickup. My pickup was scheduled for Sunday, December 7th, so I was expecting a call by the Wednesday before. That call never came. I attempted to contact Elite, at which time I was rudely informed that I would receive my confirmation call that coming Friday by no later than 4pm, and to not call them again because they don't have any information about my pickup. What they didn't clarify at that point was that it would be 4pm Pacific time, not Mountain Time. Because of the lack of confirmation until close to 6pm my local time, this was a very stressful, wondering whether my move was going to be happening that weekend or not. On the day of my move, the personnel were very prompt, arriving only 15 minutes after the quoted time-frame began. The time-frame was between 3-7pm, the driver arrived by 3:15. My move was a very small one ( I was moving out of a nearly empty studio apartment), though for some reason it took the movers close to 3 hours to load the truck. During the initial quote process, I was quoted approximately 150 cubic feet at $6 per cubic foot, which was estimated at approximately $1050. However, when the movers arrived and loaded my items, they realized it was going to take up more space than was originally thought. This somewhat confused me, considering I had removed several items from my move, including a full size bed and box spring. To me, by removing items from the move, my items should have taken up less space than was quoted. My guess is that the quote was highly underestimating the amount of space my items would take on the truck. Because of this oversight, the cost of my move was doubled from $1050 to nearly $2150. Within that amount I was charged $75 because my apartment was on the 2nd floor. They included 12 stairs in the cost, but my flight had 13 steps so I was charged the differential, plus an additional $62.50 because the front door to my apartment was an additional 7 feet more than the 75 feet included. After my items were picked up, I was told that I would receive my delivery within 5-7 business days. It was 15 business days, 22 actual days before I received my belongings. The people that delivered my items arrived exactly when they said they would, after I finally got my confirmation call the day before my delivery. Many of my items seemed to be damaged when the took them off of the truck, and I am missing at least one box. The boxes were in a deplorable condition, nearly every single one of them smashed, bulging, and open, and the contents within many of my boxes were shattered. The driver himself admitted that the items on the truck sometimes are handled without any concern for the items they hold. To me, this seems highly disrespectful and unprofessional. In the end, I would never, ever go with Elite Moving again. I think next time I will save a little money, work a little harder, and rent a U-Haul to move myself.

Long-distance move from California to New York

DO NOT USE Elite ervices - 0/100.

- Overall comments : A BIG NO NO!! We absolutely DISCOURAGE anyone from using services provided by Elite Moving and Storage, Inc. [RATING: 0/100]. It took 29 days for our shipment to arrive, 3600USD, Bad customer service, Rude salesman and manager, glass furniture left with plastic tape attached to it, super non punctual, no concern! They started their services as ELITE MOVERS COMPANY, but by the time our shipment got to New York, we learnt that they had re-contracted our shipment to a completely different company. - Office Staff extremely rude. We feel bad for all the workers/labor who work for these companies coz they are super nice and friendly and hard working people. - Professional ONLY until business was given to them. - TIMING, Date: Pick up time was delayed by 7 hours. Delivery time window between 12-4pm. They did not arrive until 8pm!! Seriously 8:30pm? When I requested that shipment be made the following day because we could take shipment during the day (my apt is not well lit - I just moved in), they would not budge. The movers unloaded and did not leave until 1:15am!! Is this professional? Overall, It took 29 days for our shipment to arrive from LA to NY. - Our shipment did not arrive until 28 days from the time of pickup!! We were first told that shipment would reach within 10 days of pickup; then they changed it to 10 days of first estimated delivery date; and then 10 "business" days of estimated pick up date..and yet, the shipment did not reach until 28 days from date of "estimated" pick up!! - Their 27 page brochure does not mention anywhere that shipment will take off on the sixteenth day after pickup!! It is all blamed on the driver “we do not know how long the driver will take”. But they do not make it clear that shipment will take off  for delivery from point of their "storage" as late as 15-18th day from day of pickup!! - We lost a lot of time and money - we cannot do anything about it, but we hope NO ONE SUFFERS the way we did. After spending USD 3600, we did get a raw deal!! - You are allowed to make money from customers and we understand that moving companies are doing business, but not at the cost of our inconvenience - there are many loopholes in contract laid out by ELITE - and all after paying $3600. - Overall rude staff, very poor customer service (most of our glass furniture was left with tape stuck on it), poor behavior of their employees (the delivery guys did not have tools and I had to help the poor dispatchers because they were so exhausted!!), inefficient, non-punctual, no clear communication (example : shipment will take time to take off - as long as 16-17 days from pick up!!).

Reading the Fine Print Will Not Save You.

Upon having recently finished my dealings with Elite, I can safely say that even though people tell you to read the fine print, this is a company where doing so will not make the experience any better. To start, DO NOT, under any circumstances believe the quote they initially give you. My fiancé and I were originally quoted $1400 at the beginning of the process, so we made sure to save at least $1800, just in case, and it was a good thing we did. On the day of pickup, the foreman showed us the space we would be having in the truck and it was unrealistically small, especially considering that we told them in advance that we were coming from a large 1-bedroom apartment, and they guaranteed us that the space they quoted us for would be enough. It also did not help that we were constantly badgered for a tip before they were even done with the work.

Outside of that, the services themselves, in terms of disassembling and properly packing and moving our things, were exceptional, and we were impressed with the speed in which the job was completed. Unfortunately, our quote jumped up due to things such as an extra elevator fee that they charge you, as well as something called a "long carry" fee. They also charged for something as simple as how much tape they used, which is something we confirmed several times up front that that would be included in our price we pay, not something charged after the fact. (Thankfully we budgeted for this ahead of time.) We were able to pay them half of the amount up front, and off our things went.

We put our first date of delivery as April 29th, and we received a call on May 3rd saying that our things had left the warehouse en route to us. We then received another call on May 12th from the driver who would be delivering our things, stating that we would be receiving our goods the next day (May 13th) between 12 PM and 4 PM. Due to another customer before us, he ended up running late, but luckily we were the last customers of the day and he made sure to keep us updated on the situation via phone. Upon his arrival, we were charged another large elevator fee and “long carry” fee unexpectedly, even though the elevator was closer to our delivery apartment than our situation at pickup. Outside of that headache, the delivery was nice, and it was another speedy job. As luck would have it, all of our belongings were accounted for and for the most part unharmed, with the exception of our dresser, bookshelf, and IKEA bed, which they blamed on them being “pressed wood”. Don’t blame the customer for wanting nice, inexpensive furniture, blame the company who simply could’ve handled it better.

In total, our amount jumped to a little over $2300 from the original $1400 we were promised. We read the fine print backwards and forwards and STILL got screwed. My advice to anyone doing a cross-state move? Go with someone like U-Haul. They may charge more, but you’ll have much more piece of mind, great communication, a quoted price they will stick to, you’ll be able to track your things, and you even get to choose the date and time of day they deliver it (for those who need accommodation for work schedules, etc). If you can’t go with U-Haul, then my second piece of advice would be to do your research in advance, as much of it as you can. This is something I can’t stress enough. Elite takes advantage of those who don’t have a large timeframe to move, and they bait and switch you with their “quotes” and hidden fees. Pay attention to the other reviews of similar experiences to my own and save yourself the immense headache.
